A new report on climate change in the Pacific highlights need for action now

Residents in Moreland are calling on the Australian Government to take stronger action on climate change, to support Pacific island nations that are on the climate frontline. Members of the local group Climate Action Moreland (CAM) recently displayed sand bags in the Victoria Mall, Coburg, to highlight the impacts that the climate emergency will have, sooner than many people think.

“The display was in sympathy with our Pacific neighbours who are already experiencing the impact of storm surges and other extreme weather events”, said Mark Riley, a CAM member. “Rising tides are flooding food gardens in some places and some islanders are having to relocate now,” he said.
