The 2018 State election date is November 24, and candidate nominations closed on 9 November. We are asking all candidates to sign the Climate Emergency Declaration.

Candidates outside Pascoe Vale Prepoll endorsed climate emergency: Fiona Patten (Reason Party) Sue Boltion (Vic Socialists) both standing for Upper House, Lizzie Blandthorn MP, Phil Jackson, John Kavanagh, Oscar Yildiz, Graeme Linsell.

Those who have now signed include: Phil Jackson (the Greens), Graeme Linsell (Animal Justice Party), Oscar Yildiz (Independent), John Kavanagh (Independent), Gerry Beaton (Victorian Socialists), and sitting Labor MP Lizzie Blandthorn. Note: candidate photos below are displayed in a random generated order. Click on a photo for an enlarged image.

John Kavanagh and Oscar Yildiz are both Moreland Councillors and voted at Moreland Council meeting in September for Moreland Council to acknowledge we are in a state of climate emergency.

Sitting Labor MP Lizzie Blandthorn was given an invitation to sign the Climate emergency declaration. She has signed.:

As Convenor of Climate Action Moreland today I Visited the electoral office of state MP For #pascoevale , Labor’s Lizzie Blandthorn, to ensure she has the opportunity of signing the #climateemergency declaration. Also made sure she is aware of the issue with Jane Morton’s booklet on messaging for the climate emergency and Climate Action Moreland’s leaflet on Transport policies for Moreland for the Climate Emergency. Moreland Council acknowledged in September by unanimous vote that we are in a state of climate emergency and will incorporate this in all council planning. Federal MP Peter Khalil has also signed the climate emergency declaration. I Also advised that extension of the Upfield Bike Path to Upfield important, that there are constituents who would cycle commute north if this path was built. This is important for transport mode shift away from cars and reducing transport emissions #vicvotes #vicvotes2018 #climateaction #springst #camoreland #moreland

Meet the Candidates Forum
A Transport Forum for North Moreland (Pascoe Vale) was held on 11 October 6.30pm-8pm at Coburg Town Hall – Facebook Live Video.
Sitting Labor MP for Pascoe Vale, Lizzie Blandthorn sent her apologies for not attending.

The forum was held at the Coburg Town Hall organised by Moreland Council, MCAT and Moreland Bicycle Users Group and had a Pascoe Vale electorate focus. Sadly there was no representation by Labor MP Lizzie Blandthorn (who sent her apologies), or Jenny Mikakos (ALP Northern Region), and even Daniel Andrews (both apologies).

But we did hear from 2 strong local Independant candidates John Kavanagh and Oscar Yildiz (Pascoe Vale), Evan Mulholland (Liberal Party Northern Region), Phil Jackson (Greens Pascoe Vale), Margee Glover (Reason Party Pascoe Vale), Steven Jolly (Victorian Socialists Northern Region) The Compare was Pauline Galvin from Moreland Community for Action on Transport (MCAT) which hosted this video live stream #vicvotes2018 candidates forum.
